What do you do to resource your health? These are things that make you feel stronger, happier, calmer, and more vibrant. Things that get you into the “zone”, where your mind becomes focused entirely on what you are doing, and nothing else matters in that moment. When was the last time YOU were in the “zone”? How can you bring more of these moments into your week?
There are a myriad of ways of turning down the mind chatter, so you can be focussed on the present moment (being in the “zone”). Yoga and craniosacral therapy are 2 ways of enhancing your ability to turn on this mindfulness whenever you need to. The more we practice it, the easier it becomes, and the more able we are to turn it on in stressful situations.
Craniosacral therapy is an easy way to change gears internally, which is what most of us need before we can enjoy being in our body, exploring our health. For many of us, if we are in pain, emotional turmoil or under huge amounts of stress, slowing down and becoming mindful of our body can seem like the least appealing thing to do! But what happens when we do this, is the signals become stronger and stronger until we have no choice but to listen. Sometimes our body will shutdown, or the pain becomes crippling, in order to get us to stop. The craniosacral therapy approach, is to turn down the volume of the pain, stress, or emotional angst, and turn up the volume of your health, so you actually want to become more aware of your body, and want to look after it better, and want to change your environment to support its health.
Yoga is a self driven process of embodied awareness. The more embodied we are, the calmer we are, and the more we are able to maintain homeostasis in times of stress and adverse conditions. It is an empowering process of regaining control over your own health, where you are the expert, and you can dictate your environment to support what your needs are in that moment.
Surfing, mountainbiking, sports, crafts and gardening are some other avenues you may choose to explore to bring more “zone” moments into your week.
Whatever your methods are of being in the “zone” remember you are in charge of your life, and can dictate how many of these moments you can fit into your week.
Enjoy 🙂
